28 Sep Newsletter – Week 1 Michaelmas 2017
We sent out this week’s newsletter to members but given 50-60 new members have joined since, we’re posting it up here for convenience.
After a week of stepping over drunk bodies, skimming freebies from various societies at freshers fair and considering the existential dread that comes with university life, it’s time to finally begin the year — welcome aboard to the LSESU Economics Society!
So, What Do We Do?
As a member, you get access to our weekly newsletter (hint: you’re currently reading it) from which you can find a full listing of our events in the upcoming period.
In the past, such events have included:
- Engagements with public figures and economists
- Weekly speaker events via the Sen Club, with a particular focus on research
- Engagements with big firms + alerts on potential career opportunities
- Social events, including pub quizzes
- Academic supplementary session, note sales, and exam tips sessions for undergrads
- Major annual conferences and debates between famous economists
Above all, the Society is here to cultivate your interest in Economics and provide you a warm and supportive community during your time at LSE — it doesn’t matter whether you take Economics as a degree or not.
This newsletter will be the main avenue through which members can find out about upcoming events, but you may also wish to keep track of us via Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/LSESUeconomicssociety/). From time-to-time, we may post spur-of-the-moment events there.
